How 3D Aim Trainer increased their user base by 15,000 through Google Ads
3D Aim Trainer (acquired by SteelSeries) is a performance-enhancing platform specifically designed for gamers. The use of specialized scenarios and targeted games allows for quicker skill improvement than traditional FPS gaming. It provides performance tracking for a variety of games including r6, Valorant, Krunker, and Apex Legends. Additionally, the platform offers a mouse accuracy test to support players in building muscle memory for improved gameplay.
Before working with me, 3D Aim Trainer was having trouble significantly decreasing the CPA and improving the quality of the players they were getting through Google Ads.
At first, we set out to improve the Google Ads structure, restructuring underperforming campaigns, suspending awareness campaigns that weren’t contributing to leads, and merging campaigns to improve algorithm learning and leverage automation better. This quickly produced an improvement in CPA and an increase in players, but the client soon realized we needed to improve the player quality as well, and imposed a requirement of 3 played games post-signup as a qualifier that we should be optimizing for. After updating tracking, we moved to re-evaluate the campaigns based on the new conversion goal, and, after A/B testing ad copy, creatives, keywords and structures, arrived at a combination that produced optimal results across both CPAs and new player generation. We were then able to successfully scale the campaigns and generate over 15,000 qualified players within 10 months, at which point the company got acquired by SteelSeries.
